Home Comforts was a material led practice, exploring domestic and everyday items, their meanings and correlations, and the power they are able to have as a result. With the use of teabags, this body of work draws on the importance of routine, something which can bring comfort, as well as relating to the senses, provoking nostalgia and thoughtfulness. The collaboration of this material, alongside personal family photographs, offers a particularly sentimental note to the work. As well as this, Home Comforts is also able to comment on the passage of time, introducing modern and seemingly out of place colours, as a way of drawing on this, alongside the use of linear paintings, acting as a timeline; a graphical representation of a period of time, on which important events are marked.
